In August 2020 a wonderful person was taken from us while working at the Village Mall Walk In Clinic. Walter was a loving husband and an incredible father. Walter never missed a dance recital, a softball game, career day at school or an opportunity to volunteer on a school field trip. He was always there. He would take time off work at the medical clinic to be there for his daughters, always. He was a present father who was often the only dad at school activities, beaming his infectious smile from ear to ear, and happy to be there. Walter knew what was important in life. His family was his true passion and what he cherished most.
Walter was an athlete himself. Not only was he a regular at 5 a.m. Orange Theory classes or often seen running along 19th Street, but he participated in many local races in Red Deer from Spartans to Woody’s Half Marathon. A family inclusive run is a perfect way to both honor and remember our Walter.
The community of Red Deer suffered a tremendous loss when Walter was taken from us. A hole in the hearts of many as he was loved by all who knew him, from his patients to his colleagues, friends and family. The purpose of this run is to remember Dr. Walter Reynolds and what he stood for: respect, love, kindness and community.
In Walter’s name, ALL funds raised through this race will be donated back into the community which he loved. The Red Deer Hospice Society and Red Deer Youth Sports Initiatives will be the organizations benefiting from this year’s event. Our goal is to see this race become an annual event and spread the love through the community.
